Found in Yekaterinburg, this brew comes in a standard brown half-liter bottle with a green and gold label featuring a guy in peasant garb holding a mug. The brewery's been around since 1886. Ingredients conform to the purity law. Best before 2/18/05, I opened it on 1/28/05.

Pours a clear greenish gold under a big two finger plus white head that settles quite quickly, leaving only a few spots of lace. The nose is crisp, with a bit of metallic hops and distinct bready malt. The mouth is light and prickly. The taste is decent, strong malt tones battle with the metallic hops, eventually winning supremacy and banishing the metallic bitter to the background, where it engages in a guerilla action noticeable most in the aftertaste. Decent brew, for a regional macro.
