This exclusive sort of ale was inspired by the beautiful masterpieces of landscape painting done by the world famous Russian artists. This unique dark-amber beer with its rich, lasting hop aromas recreates the enticing sweetness of the woodland air, fragrantly intoxicating. Just a single sip will carry you away into the mighty ancient Russian forests in their summer splendor, and fill you with their calm, strength and wisdom.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a deep amber color with a one finger head of white foam. The head has a decent level of retention, fading over time to leave a moderate e amount of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is strongest of a caramel smell mixed with big doughy aromas. Along with these smells comes a touch of molasses and a bit of toast.
Taste – The taste begins with a lightly toasted bready flavor that has a bit of molasses and caramel sweetness. As the taste advances some light woody and herbal tastes come to the tongue and are joined by a little bit of sourness and hay to take the taste to profile to its end.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is medium in thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is average. For the style it is OK and makes for a decently easy sipper.
Overall – Not the best amber out there. The bit of sourness throws off the taste profile, making for a not all that fantastic brew.

The color is a nice dark amber. Its a clear pour and the head disappears quickly. I prefer a sweeter beer with a fresher taste and this beer provided a sweet but not too sweet taste. Its very refreshing and goes down very easily. I was trying to taste something beyond the malt in the beer but was unable to- not sure if it was citrus or what.

I have tried several Russian Beers recently and found many of them bitter and not very fresh tasting- perhaps its where I bought them from. This one, however was very good and better than the other Baltika Brewery offerings I have tried.

Pours clear, amber in color with 1/4 inch head. Taste is toasted malt and brown sugar. Light bodied, sweet, and moderate carbonation. Makes for an above average, inoffensive, sweet, sessionable ale.

A: The beer is clear dark amber in color and has a light to moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a finger high light beige head that died down, leaving a large pillow of bubbles on the surface, a collar around the edge, and some lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Faint aromas of malt extracts are preset in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell but has stronger flavors of dark malts, toasted malts, and malt extracts. No bitterness is perceptible, although there are enough underlying hops to mask any sweetness.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is rather malty but has just enough hops to keep things in check.
