a very worthwhile establishment in this small town that is home to two breweries, the craft revolution is truly happening everywhere. its a cool old building in the center of town, brick and wood and low light and high ceilings and an old rustic western charm about it, surprisingly big, goes back a long way, seems nicely redone, and was very comfortable as a place to hang, open and mellow, super friendly service, and its a great place to stop in and have a couple of beers, which is exactly what i did. the man child brunch stout was nice, but i liked their hipster khakis pils just as much, both solid. they had a pretty good selection overall, covering all the bases, and they seem to have a good thing going. i wonder how they ever fill the space though, it was close to empty when i was in, approaching happy hour time, and this town isnt huge. i loved the relaxed feel of the place, charming almost, and the beer was good. its awesome how the montana scene has grown so robust, i find something new and fun to drink every time i am in the state. put this place on your list!

The place is not hard to miss, it is off the I-90 business route wedged between other places of business. Parking your car was a slight hassle. After I parked about a block away, I meandered up to the store front and waltz inside. The place is a quaint homey place with adequate seating for this size of town. A brick wall is on the west side giving the place a warm cozy feel. The bar sits in the back and it fairly huge, with plenty of seating. The server at first was a bit standoffish, but in five minutes that all changed and she was chipper and cheerful. She really made my experience here awesome. I really enjoyed the two hours I spent talking and sipping beer. Most of the beer they have is pretty good. The Amber ale is more hoppy than traditional ambers. but the selection was good, no guest tap from what I could see. It was not too busy, just a lazy afternoon at brewery. Overall great experience, enjoyed my time here and I will visit again.

I visited Katabatic today and really liked it. The build-out is very cool; lots of brick and exposed wood, and the environment is welcoming. The service was great; it wasn't especially busy, but my server made time to chat with everyone and it just made the whole visit more pleasant. The beer was decent, especially the IPA and pale ale, but they only had 5 beers on tap (they recently upgraded their brewhouse, so they were a bit thin on inventory). If I find myself passing through Livingston again, I'd like to revisit Katabatic and see (and try!) an expanded taplist.
