Copenhagen 17/3 2021. 33 cl can from Brygshoppen web-shop. Dark can with a blue and red stamp with a Soviet style style.
Pours opaque dark brown with a mid-sized light beige head. Fairly stable. Settles as thin patch of foam unable to cover the surface. Moderate lacing.
Aroma is medium intense. Lightly sweet odor mingling with more metallic odor. Brown sugar, cocoa, caramel. Salty licorice. Bitter coffee. Metallic odor of alcohol. Tin foil and booze.
Light carbonation. Medium thick, soft, smooth, lightly tingling texture.
Flavor is intense with a medium strong sweetness followed by a medium strong, salty bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter with a sweet undertone. Lingering. Finish is semi-dry.
Quite bitter for the style but not without its own salty and boozy charm.

Got this one from the Duvel guy in Utrecht
From a bottle into a snifter
IBU: 48
EBC: 95
APPEARANCE: Clear brown pour yields a 2+ finger, foamy, frothy beige head with great retention. Bistre brown body with piles of carbonation evident. Head has lots of staying power. Eventually recedes to a foam cap and leaves some decent foamy lacing on the glass. Quite light in color and the head is rather foamy for the style.
SMELL: Lots of spicy esters, much like a Belgian ale, as well as hints of roasted malts and some alcohol on the nose.
TASTE: Dark fruits mostly, like raisins and dates, prunes, as well as some roasted character and some milk chocolate up front. This is a very Belgian stout. Some more roasted and fruity flavors at the swallow, moving into a bold finish of raisins, grapes, dates and other dark fruits, some roasted flavors, hints of chocolate and a good dose of alcohol lingering on the palate. Flavorful.
PALATE: Medium body and medium carbonation. A little foamy perhaps, goes down fine with a bit of a burn after the swallow and finishes a touch mouth-coating. A bit of heat lingers.
OVERALL: This is definitely a Belgian interpretation of the style. It has plenty of esters going on and is more of a dark-fruit-first interpretation of an imperial stout. Not saying that’s a bad thing, however. I more enjoy the roasted, chocolaty version of the style, but can certainly appreciate what’s going on here, though the scores may not make that obvious. Well-made and worth checking out, as are the others in their dutchbargain line. Cheers!
