Got this from the Duvel guy in Utrecht
From a bottle into a snifter
IBU: 40
EBC: 115
Limited Edition 2018 no.5
APPEARANCE: Pours out clear dark brown and yields a very small, nitro creamy but bubbly tan head that quickly fades to a bubbly wisp and ring. Dark, bistre brown body with no bubbles evident. Half wisp remains leaving lots of good lacing down the glass. A little lighter in color, perhaps.
SMELL: Roasted malts, milk chocolate, some cream notes, light coffee and some red berries on the nose. I guess the berries could be interpreted as strawberries. Almost candy like. Decent strength.
TASTE: Candy-like up front with roasted notes, creamy milk chocolate and sweet, red fruits. Some alcohol at the swallow, moving into a bolder and lingering finish of roasted malts, milk chocolate, vanilla cream, and some red berry sweetness with a candy quality to it. A touch of alcohol as well.
PALATE: Medium body and creamy smooth nitro feel. Goes down smooth and finishes a bit mouth-coating. A touch of alcohol lingers.
OVERALL: This is actually pretty solid all around. The strawberry element isn’t necessarily strawberry, per-se, but it lends a candy-like quality to it that works just fine. The nitro finish is pleasant touch as well. Something definitely worth checking out if it’s staring at you in the face. Cheers!
