a better beer than its ratings, and a red we liked quite a lot, very fall profile to me, nice in the chilly weather. its been a long time since i had a beer from these guys, and i dont remember being super impressed in the past, and this is only a red ale, but its a nice one as they go, not too sweet at all, very bready and baked to me, kilned and toasted, rich and warm, but on the dry side, which is so uncommon in this style that always ends up a little sugary to me. there is a light almond note here before a generic nuttiness, its smooth and flavorful, they get a lot out of this amber malt base, even a light english type yeast character here too, which gives it a little more depth than most of these have. smooth body, surprisingly fast dry finish, nice carbonation when its first poured, and even though its just a red ale, i think they did a nice job with this, something i could drink several of, which is rare for me in this style. i will have to stop in here again when i am passing through next, this is better than i remember their beer being...

L: Clear copper red color with a small white head and no lacing on the glass.

A: Very little aroma, some caramel and toasted malt, nothing too inviting.

T: Lots of malt sweetness, some caramel and cherry. This beer is almost all sweetness and has no complexity.

F: Light to medium body, this beer feels very over carbonated.

O: This beer is a sweet mess without much depth or character.

ON tap at the brewpub. Pours amber with a long lasting white head and soda-like carbonation. Aroma is of caramel, cherry, hints of coffee and earthy hops. Body is medium, smooth and creamy. Taste is similar to aroma. Short dry finish. Nothing special brew.

On tap, served at the Bar.

This place...is a godsend in a lonely part of I-70. You can stop in and know that any time, you're going to have some decent pub food, and a good, handcrafted beer. That's not always the case in Garfield County.

Anyway, the beer. It didn't leave much head or lacing, but the appearance is good. It's red, it's deep and it swirls.

It smells like a red should, not entirely complex, but pleasant. They've changed the recipe once or twice, and it's better than it used to be.

Taste - well, it's good. It's not unlike Killian's, but that can be okay, because it is executed better here. It's got a full mouthfeel and is surprisingly drinkable...had to stop myself before I had 2 or 3 more.

This beer poured a berry reddish color with a small head that had good retention. Its smell was unimpressive and tasted a little bitter and reminded me of Killians Irish Red. This beer was ok but I am having a hard time explaning it because I had a hard time enjoying it.
