One of the better scotch ales I have made by US brewers. Carbonation is a bit high. It is lacking a fullness to the mouthfeel that I would expect from a scotch ale (even one that is not a wee heavy).

Aggressively poured from a carry-out growler deep red-orange color with an off-white head, little lacing and only the slightest amount of carbonation released from the base of the Duvel tulip.
Faint earthy, woody, damp cellar aromas. Taste follows and lacks some depth.
Carbonation does release in the mouth adds some body.
Not bad but seems to lack some depth or richness.

Sampled at the brewery, quick review from notes.
Dark brown body with a thin layer of foam. Spotty lacing around the edges.
Aromas of grain husks and nutty malts. Taste is similar, one dimensional maltiness, not much in the way of esters, hop bitterness, or anything to balance. Light bodied and simple. Overall not much substance to leave an impression. One and done for me.
