Poured from a 12 OZ can into a pint glass. The appearance is a clear dark Amber color with a small white head. The aroma is malt, hops and some citrus. The taste is citrus hops nicely blended with some malt.

Review based on a six ounce pour into a snifter at the brewery.

Poured as a rich amber color, with a creamy, albeit slightly thin, off white head. Aroma hits first with just a hint of citrus fruit sweetness before the more dominate floral hop notes assert themselves, but even with the two competing scent notes the aroma never reaches the point of overwhelming. It is not a beer that is likely to blow you away from the nose alone.

The taste is best described as superbly balanced. The Immediate hoppy notes are again a fleeting and faint citrus sweetness, followed by the more lasting herbal and floral bitterness. Compared to your average american craft apa/ipa the bitterness is not particularly pronounced and combined with solid malt backbone leaves the beer finishing with a certain degree of crispness in taste profile.

The fact that it doesn't linger long on your taste buds means it is a very easy beer to quickly and consistently drink your way through. The mouth feel itself is what I have come to expect in a competently done American pale ale: a very middle of the road texture and carbonation level. Despite the lack of lingering finish, it doesn't feel particularly thin or watery.

I am a guy that loves a good pale ale, and I don't think Southern Brewing disappoints with Broad Street. I doubt anyone was trying to reinvent the wheel here, they just made a solid beer.

Appearance: Served up a lightly hazed, golden-orange body in hue and capped with a slim, white head.

Smell: Pale malts that're just a bit sweet-smelling give way to hoppy notes of orange and lemon as well as a slight dry herbaceousness.

Taste: Slender pale maltiness, with a soft kiss of golden syrup. A little toasty, grainy. Chiefly citrusy hops, though a little hit of fresh herb. Medium-light bitterness. Bittersweet, though subtly so on the easy finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium carbonation.

Overall: Striking a good balance between the hops and malty sweetness, I thought it was a straight-up good APA.
