picked up at cheap charlie's in gresham, OR; canned 2-9-21

vessel: la fin du monde tulip

p- appears black at first glance; upon closer inspection, color is a super deep walnut with burgundy hues; small tan head leads to a thin ring; looks nice
n- med-bold; sweet notes of roast and coffee
t- follows the nose with some semi-sweet cherry in the mix as well; cherry brings an element of tartness too; finishes with some coffee and roasty bitterness; a pleasant, cohesive profile
mf- med to med-full bodied; med carb; seems to suit the profile nicely
o- quite the nice bock; def a more memorable experience with this one than their ipa (although I've been tempted to revisit that one as of late); I dig it- would have it again

Purchased from Total Wine, chilled, and poured into an Imperial pint glass.

Look: dark brown, two finger sized light tan head that dissipated quickly leaving a nice light foam and small lacing down the glass as we drank.
Smell: malty, super light roast, sweetness and a little hop (smells like a bock)
Taste: malty up front, light roast, followed by malt and a little hop note that doesn’t hang for long. If you swirl in your mouth and let it hang for a couple seconds, then swallow you get super light cherry notes that are almost non-existent, but if you really reach it is there. There is no chocolate, which is odd for a lager that says chocolate and cherry.
Feel: light and smooth with a little (and I do mean little) tickle of carbonation that went away quickly as it warmed.

Bocks are nice, roasty beers... if Fortside said “this is a bock”, I would be like yeah its a bock... but the can says chocolate and cherry and that isn’t the case for this beer. If you like a nice malty bock, this is not a bad, but if you are looking for something creative like a bock with chocolate and cherry, pass on this one.
