This was one of the rotating brewer’s choice beers in May 2016. Served in an imperial style pint glass, the beer is gold with perfect clarity. It has a sticky white head that leaves sheets of lacing down the glass.
It has a nose of fresh grains, crackers and a combo of floral and spice notes.
The beer is on the bitter end of the spectrum for the style at 40 IBUs. The malts have a Ritz cracker like base which underpins the spice and lemon grass bite from the hops. I’m guessing here, but think the Saz hops were really loaded up as this beer when it was being brewed.
The mouth manages to be both crisp and coating.
I like the boundary push on this one. It was easy to pair with food and I had enjoyed a couple.
