The first atomic bomb, nicknamed “The Gadget,” was detonated at the Trinity test site outside Alamagordo, New Mexico on July 16, 1945. This implosion-type plutonium bomb was designed as a chain reaction, first detonating TNT, with a nuclear explosion happening fractions of a second later. If proven successful, these explosives would be weaponized and converted into “pumpkin bombs.”
Due to uncertainty of the chain reaction being successful, scientists came up a preventative measure to contain the TNT blast, retaining the very rare and dangerous plutonium. This measure was a large steel vessel, named “Jumbo,” but ultimately, it was never used.
Here we’ve taken a pumpkin beer base, brewed with over 200lbs of locally grown pumpkins that were torched and baked, and then put it into “Jumbo” barrels. After these Rum and Bourbon barrels “contained” the beer for 10 months, they were then blended together, creating a chain reaction of explosive flavors. The result of this “Gadget,” is a detonation of caramelized pumpkin, sweet brown sugar, and spices, which lead into natural vanilla, charred oak, and a warm burn of alcohol drawn from the barrels. Finishing at a powerful 12%, we advise that you proceed with caution.
