10/2/24, $6 16 oz draft at The Red Dwarf served in a shaker pint. 8.0% ABV, Porter with Maple and Pecan.
Appearance: Bear pitch black base with hints of brown, no head, poured to near the top. Fine carbonation bubbles visible at the top. 3.75
Aroma: Strong maple dominates everything at the 5 and 15 minute mark, backed by pecan. Maple overwhelming, but still enticing. Could use more balance. 3.25
Taste: Tootsie Roll covered in maple syrup is what I’m getting after this warms to a proper temperature. I’m digging, but 16 oz a bit intimidating for a pour this sweet. 3.5
Mouthfeel: About full creamy body, strong from Go! over ABV. Sweet as F, tootsie roll glazed heavily with syrup the start, middle and close. 3.25
Overall: As advertised, but really could use more balance, at least for my preference. Still enjoying, but likely won’t revisit. 3.25
