A tasty doppelbock out of season is still tasty! This pours a warm malty color. Rich and malty. Once it opens there’s a touch of caramel malt and a lingering finish.

This is my favorite beer from New Oberpfalz. The initial taste is rich and full and the ABV is just high enough to limit me to no more than 3 in a night.
The only downside is that this is a seasonal beer, but just like the McRib, it is definitely worth waiting for!!!

Look: Reddish brown in color
Smell: Nice, malty scent reminds me of raisins
Taste: Lower viscosity, does not cling to the palate like others I have had.
Feel: Seems thin for a dopplebock, more of a bock.
Overall a good beer.

pours medium/dark amber. tulip. 1/2 inch dense foam. 12oz bottle.
light for a doppelbock, but brite.
smells of honey and toast, lager phenols.
smooth and balanced. easy drinking for an 8% lager.

A really decent doppelbock from a brewery I've never heard of. Bought at Wiseguy's in Hobart area. Maybe could be stronger, but very drinkable. My favorite of the bocks I've gotten so far this year. Would buy again.

12oz bottle from the brewery into a 16 oz snifter
Look – Few shades lighter than your average doppelbock. Crisp carbonation that fades quickly.
Smell – Raisin bread, brown sugar, black strap molasses.
Taste – Very malt forward, but not the complexity of malts the smell gives you. Settles into some dark fruits as expected, but finishes a little dry for the style.
Feel – Drinks more like a bock than a doppelbock. A higher viscosity would certainly benefit.
Overall – Very drinkable with lots of the qualities you expect from a doppelbock, but room for improvement.

Appearance – The color was more of a reddish brown, which is not typical for the style. A white head crowned the glass.
Smell – The nose was mostly dark fruits. I would name plums and raisins.
Taste – My initial impression is smooth dark fruits. The malts do not shine like they should, so I would suggest this needs to be bolder. The fruits linger toward the back with a syrupy quality.
Mouthfeel – This doppelbock needs to be thicker. Rather than seeming chewy, it seems thin.
Overall – This is a good first attempt at a doppelbock. It needs to be thicker and bolder which I am sure future batches will improve.
