How many barleywines do I have in a year? Not many... but I used to drink them more often. Old Scouser strikes me as a classic bw. Wonderfully malty. Enough hops to keep it honest. Not syrupy. Not at all boozy tasting. A great way to end the night.

Appearance - From the tap, the beer poured a handsome copper color with a fluffy white head.

Smell -Fresh green hops rose in the nose. Spice hints were present.

Taste - Fresh hops with a slight bitterness were aligned with a malty backbone. The combination of the malts and hops allowed the dankness of the hops to shine.

Mouthfeel - The viscosity lent itself well to the style.

Overall - This is a dam good American barleywine. I’d like to see it in bottles.
