Very nice ale with hoppy overtones but a somewhat dry finish.

Citrus, Bread, Honey, Silky
“One day, a chef and a brewer ran into a farmer ...” Or so the story goes. While the sample bottle reviewed is contract brewed, Marriott’s first on-site brewery at the pastorally-named Whisper Creek Farm whips up a mere 28 gallons of beer per week. Production quibbles aside, Surplus is easy drinking with noticeable honey and citrus flavors, so the brewers gotthat right. And this is definitely a food beer, fine on its own but it tastes like it could be paired with many different cuisines.

Definitely some honey going on here. Earthy overall tone. It's good enough, I guess. Carbonation is extremely abrasive. Nothing real boisterous or showy. It's beer.
