A superb citrus ale that doesn't overpower with alcohol, but rather deftness of brewing makes this a beer to drink. The citrus flavor enhanced by the grapefruit spices are thirst quenching. If you are going to drink more than one type in an evening, this beef matches well most lagers.

Old Dominion Brewing Company "Dominion Grapefruit Pale Ale"
12 fl. oz. brown glass bottle, "BOTTLING DATE 11/03/17"
$2 @ Giant, Havertown, PA
Notes via stream of consciousness: It's poured a very hazy deep amber-orange body beneath a finger thick head of off-white foam. There's some visible particulate in suspension. The aroma clearly expresses grapefruit although it's not sharp or brash, almost as if there's some orange in there to round it out, and maybe even some lemon. That floats overtop of some medium caramel maltiness. On to the flavor, it's pretty much exactly the same except that the malt is much more prevalent and elbows aside some of the citrus fruit notes. Still, it's hard to argue with. It's firmly bitter and some bitterness lingers in the finish once a quick pass of grapefruit and then caramelish malt have faded. Medium bodied and gently crisp. Looking back, the head has dropped but there's some very nice lacing left behind making up a solid sheet with thicker rings marking the point of each sip. Very nice. Overall it's a very solid offering that's quite satisfying.

This is good, but don't want to get again. Was a gift from Anne duPont to DL.

7/24...pours copper orange with light layer of white foam. Citrus nose, subtle grapefruit, almost of a sweeter variety. Sharp grapefruit pine opening, taste, heavy bitter close. Slight juicy afterwards. Pretty good, heavy on the marquee ingredient.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 3/2/2017. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy deep golden yellow/light orange color with a 2 finger fairly dense and rocky off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Thick soapy lacing clings down with glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, passion fruit, mango, papaya, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, light pepper, pine, honey, toasted bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/tropical/pine hops, grapefruit peel, and moderate bready malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, passion fruit, mango, papaya, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, light pepper, pine, honey, toasted bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate pine/citrus rind/grassy/spicy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, passion fruit, mango, papaya, lemon/orange rind, pepper, pine, honey, toasted bread, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/tropical/pine hops, grapefruit peel, and moderate bready malt flavors; with a nice malt/bitterness balance; slight lingering hop astringency through the glass, but not overwhelming. Light-moderate dryness from lingering resin/rind bitterness, increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy, and sticky/resinous/rindy balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 6%. Overall this is a very nice fruited pale ale. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/tropical/pine hops, grapefruit peel, and moderate bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink, despite the increasing bitter/resinous/drying finish. Very vibrant, juicy, and pretty dank on hops; with a nice bready Munich malt backbone. Never sweet or heavy feeling. Citra hops are showcased really well, and the grapefruit is not overwhelming. A very enjoyable offering.

This is a very good ale. It pours a deep golden with slight head and lacing.
The taste is a bitter affair with a fair amount of malt showing through. Time to check the ABV. Tastes like more than 6.
It leaves a very nice bitter aftertaste. This is a tasty ale and recommended, especially in a setting like did this evening - four different brewers takes on similar styles. This one actually was closer to the main stream, with the focus more on bitterness than piney citrus tastes.
Like I said, recommended.

As with other Old Dominion products, this one features the pin up girl. I admit I bought the six pack partly because I liked the sexy teacher image on the bottle. It poured an amber color with a nice bubbly head.
Strong grapefruit aroma as well as in the taste, as the name implies. Heavily hopped, sharp pine, almost IPA like. Yet, there is a nice underlying fruity and malt sweetness. It has a dry finish. Medium bodied.
I am impressed with all the products I've had from Old Dominion, and this one was no exception. A nice APA that has a stronger hop kick.
