Very nice, coppery golden color. Nice white head at first. Very clean looking beer. Ok aroma-some toasted malt, mild sulfury smell. Big full malty flavor up front. Good level of bitterness to balance. Sweet at first though dry in the finish. Good mouthfeel-has an oily slickness to it but seems more from the malt then some of the slick feel you get off a "hop bomb". Very good overall. I am all over a maibock for fall-nice change from the fest beers.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle to a pint glass. The liquid is a clear brilliant golden color with a coppery tone and fine carbonation. The head is 1 finger and fades fast to small lace. Looks like a lot of DFH brews I like very elegant.

The smell is thick with malt and alcohol.

The taste is just that. Lots of malt with some alcohol coming through. But not strong of either, not to rich but well refined. The malt is heavy as it warms.

Mouthfeel is thick and heavy. nice gentle carbonation. Ah, my bock.

Drinkability is very good. This is not a perfect example of the style as I know and love it but a fantastic interpretation and I really like it. Prosit MK

Great seasonal offering from a local brewery. The most amazing, clear, rich yellow color with decent carbonation and nice head retention in the (chilled) glass. Moderate malty flavor with slight (yet perfectly balanced) hops bitterness and sweetness, though I can't say it is truly "sweet" or "bitter." The solvent alcohol taste does come through a bit in the later sips, which is a drawback for me. But a good rendition of the traditional German style. The bit higher ABV makes it less likely that it'll be a regular (or repeat) drink for me; but a great diversion for those wishing to expand their repertoire of tastes. Apparently even better on tap.

Tasted On-Tap 06/21/06 at the Ram's Head Tavern in Rehobeth Beach, DE.

Hazy yellow-ish light gold, a low white head, and light on carbonation. A nice biscuity/bready malt aroma and flavor with just a touch of alcohol noticeable on both fronts. Nicely balanced so as not to be sweet at all. Medium bodied and smooth with a lightly warm finish.

A nice seasonal and one of Fordham's better offerings.

Drank this one at home from a 12 oz. bottle.

Appearance: This beer poured a nice, clear amber-orangish hue with a short head, leaving laces around the glass.

Smell: Biscuity, but not terribly distinct-- a slight hint of ester in the nose increasing as the beer warms. Very little hop aroma.

Taste: Incredible malt flavor-- Biscuity and Sweet with a slight hop bitterness. Fruity hints-- perfect for summer fare: salads, burgers, and the like.

Mouthfeel: Substantial and smooth, lightly carbonated-- it hangs on your palette begging you to try another taste.

Drinkabilty: Very drinkable for its high ABV which you barely notice until the glass nears empty. Due to the high ABV it's not a session beer, but perfectly paired in my mind with a hearty sandwich and fries.

Thumbs up, I would definitely drink it again.

Poured a deep golden color with white puffy head. Smell is fruity and malty and improves as the beer warms. Taste is of a very strong maly character with a firm ripe fruity character. Finished with a bread-like malt character and only a mild hop bitterness. An OK beer, but nothing spectactular.

A solid 4 beer. From notes of the Maryland brew fest.

Strong gold color with a white head that hung around. It had a strong malt nose with noble hops and fruit yeast as well. The taste was of large malt surrounded by delicate hops. The alcohol is hidden almost completely and it has a very clean finish for all the estery yeast flavor that accompanies the malt. It is slightly chewy, enough to allow you to taste it but smooth enough to be drank quickly. A good drinkable beer that will see my palate again.

Presentation: On tap at Ram's Head Live in Baltimore as their current seasonal beverage.
View: Golden, cloudy yellow with limited carbonation and a light ring of off white head
Aroma: Bready malts and some yeasty esters
Taste: Malts run the show here. By and large, they were chalky and bready in nature--no roast toasty caramels here. There were some alcohol esters in the middle. The finish was a very light bitterness of European hops.
Mouthfeel: There was more carbonation in the mouthfeel than was evident in the appearance of the beer. The alcohol detracted from the malty goodness.
Drinkability: Quite drinkable for the heavy ABV. The dry finish and creeping alcohol kept this from being a session brew. It went well with the light sandwiches on the menu and the sunny afternoon outside seating.
