always down for a nice light english pale, even one thats a little hoppier than i am used to in more traditional takes on the style. maris otter is my spirit animal (not my joke, i know, but i love it). this is all maris otter, although it does pour a little lighter in color than i am accustomed to in an english pale, less of the copper color and crystal malt richness, but it works in its favor with all the hops i think. the grain smells and tastes super fresh, bready and classic, especially with the english yeast backing it up with a crackery doughy sturdiness, i really like it. the hops have some light grassiness and start of more classic than they finish, when the bitterness really cranks up. its fresh and zesty and has a little grip to it, drier than a lot of these are in the end so it seems to stand out more too. good carbonation and a little pop in the finish, fresh and flavorful and good, hard to go wrong with this mix of ingredients, at least for my palate, but i liked this one a lot.
