Unlike the 'milkshake IPA' I had from Flying Monkeys two weeks ago, this offering from Rurban is enjoyable. The lactose flavour and smell is more subdued, so rather than dominating every aspect of the beer it complements it nicely.
Can from brewery, poured in a stemless wine glass. Pours a hazy orange-beige, with a champagne-coloured head. Smells of raspberries/strawberries and a light, vanilla-like sweetness. Each sip tastes of raspberries/strawberries followed by a hint of lactose sweetness before giving way to a light, grassy bitterness from the hops. Very well balanced.
Not the best IPA I've had, not even from Rurban, but it's a winner. I can see this being a hit in the city during patio season.
