The entire contents of a pint can were readily emptied into a clear glass liter mug in one pour. The more than substantial beige head quickly reduced to normal. The liquid is just about black coffee brown. The aroma is less than expected, considering the additional ingredients. It's mostly roasted barley malt, a little coffee and even less vague sweetness. It drinks more like a typical stout than a dessert stout, a good thing. It's not too sweet and yet the subtle hints of vanilla, coffee and marzipan are there. The mouthfeel isn't exceptionally smooth, the head didn't last, the flavors might have been a little richer and there was almost no glass lacing. Yet, this is enjoyable and recommended for the finer things it brings.

Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a deep brown color with a small head of tan colored foam. The head has a decent level of retention, fading over time and leaving a good deal of spiderweb lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is rich and super potent of a rich dark chocolate smell mixed with a good showing of a boozy like vodka crème aroma. Along with these smells comes a big showing of milk and crème as well as notes of shortbread and toasted malt. There is a decent showing of coffee and hints of vanilla and brown sugar. Very inviting and quite nice.
Taste – The taste begins with a big roasty and toasty malt flavor paired with tons of dark chocolate and a decent showing of coffee. While moderately sweet due to the presence of a brown sugar and caramel taste, I was expecting much more form the nose. While lighter upfront the sweet flavors do get stronger as the taste advances, with flavors of vanilla crème, milk, and caramel joining in with the rest. A touch of nut and wood come on more toward the end of the taste, and are joined by a spike of the coffee and the chocolate, leaving one with a rather rich and moderately sweet, pastry like taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body is rather thick and chewy with a lower level of carbonation. For the style and the flavors, the feel is very well done, making for a nice dessert sipper.
Overall – A rather rich and robust brew, that while so, is not over the top on sweetness or abv. A rather nice dessert beer and one to at least give a try to if you have the opportunity.
