Poured from a growler into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a super hazy orange-yellow color with a one finger head of white foam. The head has an amazing level of retention, fading very slowly over time and leaving tons of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is heavy of a bready and yeasty smell mixed with a good showing of passionfruit and pineapple. Ther is also a rather strong grapefruit rind smell as well as notes of herb and pine.
Taste – The taste begins with a nice bready and biscuit malt flavor mixed with the grapefruit hop that was in the nose. There is also a light level of sweetness with some pineapple, apricot, and passionfruit as well as some light notes of peach. As the taste advances the sweet fades some all while more hop comes to the flavor profile, with more grapefruit and notes of pine and herb. Toward the end, the pine and herb surge with some loss of grapefruit, while a bit of must joins in leaving one with a rather easy natured and slightly more dank taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is medium to slightly heavier in thickness and chewiness with a moderate carbonation level. For the style the feel is pretty good and makes for an easy sipper.
Overall – A rather nice pale ale. Would be nice to see this, or something very similar, more often on their repertoire.
