Introducing La Catrina, the latest in our Pilsner of the World series, brewed to celebrate the vibrant spirit of Día de los Muertos. This lively Mexican-style Pilsner is crafted with locally malted maize from Valley Malt in Hadley, MA, and features Chaos hops, featuring bold orange flavors alongside refreshing hints of lime, raspberry, and grassy undertones. You’ll also catch delicate notes of black and jasmine tea, adding a unique layer to the flavor profile.
La Catrina, the elegant skeletal figure featured on our label, is one of the most iconic symbols of Día de los Muertos, or the Day of the Dead. Created by Mexican artist José Guadalupe Posada, she serves as a reminder that death is the great equalizer, and no matter one’s status in life, we are all united in the end. La Catrina represents not only death but also the celebration of life, as Mexicans honor their ancestors with joy, color, and remembrance during this annual tradition.

Poured from a growler into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a clear golden color with a very small head of white foam. The head fades very fast leaving a light lacing on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is light overall, but consists mainly of a grainy malt and some notes of corn and caramel. Along with these smells comes a bit of hay and herb and a touch of apricot.
Taste – The taste follows the nose rather well. There is a mix of a cracker malt and grainy bread flavor paired with some sweet corn and caramel sweetness. Along with these flavors comes a little bit of a must and a very light herb. As the taste advances there is a slight decrease in the sweet, while a bit more corn chip like flavor and some more grain and bread comes onto the tongue. There is a light hay and toast that develop at the end, leaving one with a rather easy natured taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is light to medium in thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is on the higher side. For the style and the tastes, the feel is pretty nice and makes for a nice easy sipper.
Overall – a rather easy natured and enjoyable brew overall. A nice Mexican lager.
