Poured from a growler into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a clear dark golden color with a two finger height head of white foam. The head has a good level of retention, fading over time and leaving tons of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is strong of a cracker malt smell mixed with big aromas of pine and herb. Along with these smells comes notes of grapefruit hop and some white pepper and floral notes.
Taste – The taste begins with a with a cracker and slightly bready malt base paired with a good showing of herbal and pine hops. As the taste advances the hops get a bit stronger at the expense of some of the bread. All the while some grapefruit rind flavors and a bit of tangerine join the flavors, and with a touch of lemon and pepper, one is left with a rather nice somewhat dank and citrusy taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is medium in thickness and creaminess with a moderate carbonation level. For the tastes and the style the feel is nice and makes for an easy sipper.
Overall – A rather nice west coast style IPA. One to try if you get a chance.
