Poured from a growler into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a mostly clear orange-amber color with a one finger head of white foam. The head fades over time, leaving a moderate sum of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is strong of wheat and some spent grain along with notes of orange, banana, and yeast cake. Other aromas of some popcorn and a bit of apricot and peach are in there as well.
Taste – The taste is strong of a wheat bread and light citrus flavor of lemon and orange. There is a bit of grass and some hay upfront, both of which get a bit stronger. Other flavors of yeast and banana develop as the taste advances, and with a surge in the wheat at the end, one is left with a lightly fruit sweetened and wheaty taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is medium in chewiness and creaminess with a moderate carbonation level. Overall, for the style and the abv the feel is pretty good.
Overall – A rather nice and easy drinking hefe. Nothing mind-blowing but sessionable and flavorful.
