Poured from a 16oz can to a pint glass, liquid gold has a soft fluffy head with great retention about two inches thick. The head leaves behind solid lacing on the glass. The color is a hazy golden orange. Aroma is bready with guava, pineapple, and orange zest. Taste is doughy with some tropical fruit notes similar to the nose that progresses to a drier finish of peach and apricot, leaving a herbal hop on the palette. Mouthfeel is fluffy and medium-heavy with moderate carbonation. Cheers!

Liquid Gold

Lord Hobo Brewing Co.

IPA - New England / Hazy

:

Light bodied, zippy, and jazzy mouthfeel.

Candied tropical fruit currents flow from the hops. Juicy AF and lively vibe is really nice. Spice and sweet fruit is an interesting juxtaposition. Very different and very interesting.

Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a hazy orange-yellow color with a two finger height head of white foam. The head has a fantastic level of retention, fading slowly over time and leaving a ton of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is big of a bready and grainy smell mixed with some tangerine and tropical fruit notes of mango and pineapple. At the same time there is a decent showing of a doughy smell as well as notes of peach and a little bit of lemon. A touch of yeast and some hoppy notes of a light herb and pine nature round it all out.
Taste – The taste starts out with a oat bready and doughy flavor mixed with some of the tropical fruits and tangerine that were in the nose. The tropical fruits are rather light with just a hint of papaya, pineapple and mango. There is a little bit of a herbal and earthy hop upfront, both of which get a tad stronger as the taste advances. The tropical fruits, all the while, fade a tad, being replaced by some grain and a bit of peach and apricot. A bit of grape and some must come on at the end, leaving one with a slightly more malty and middle of the road hopped taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is thick and more chewy in nature with a moderate to average carbonation level.
Overall – A decent hazy IPA, but not sure it really lives up to the name of liquid gold.
