To celebrate our Hobo of the Year, Tom, our sous chef at Woburn wanted to do a sour ale inspired by his favorite drink, a tequila pineapple. We added a hefty dose of pineapple puree during fermentation and added the essence of aged tequila.

Poured from a growler into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a golden-orange color with a small head of white foam. The head fades fast leaving a touch of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is heavy of a pineapple smell mixed with notes of crème and some green apple. Along with these smells comes a strong lime and lemon smell with a bit of tequila. With these comes a bit of hay and some light smells of mango and apricot mixed with a touch of orange. Overall smells akin to a frozen tequila pineapple creamsicle.
Taste – The taste begins with a sour green apple, tart lime, and a lightly sweet pineapple flavor mixed with a strong showing of a gristy, and musty cracker malt. The sour gets more intense with more green apple and lime, while the pineapple gets slightly drier in nature. There is a bit of lemon that develops along the way as well, along with some notes of tequila and a bit of mustiness and hay, leaving one with a sour and drier pineapple lime taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is Medium to light with a moderate carbonation level, both of which are good for the drier nature and the sour tastes.
Overall – A pretty good sour overall. Easy to drink with a nice slightly drier flavor.
