Poured from a growler into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a lightly hazed golden color with a small head of white foam. The head fades very quickly, leaving a touch of lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is rather strong of a doughy and caramel sweet smell mixed with notes of toffee and crème. Along with these comes a touch of toasted bread and notes of yeast.
Taste – The taste begins with a smooth doughy and caramel flavor as may have been anticipated form the nose. At the same time there is a bit of vanilla and creme and a touch of hay and pear. As the taste advances the sweet gets a bit more intense, while some light grain replaces some of the dough. The hay builds a tad throughout as well, with the resulting mix of flavors leaving one with a smooth and slightly sweet, but easy natured taste to linger.
Mouthfeel – The body is of medium thickness for the abv of 4.5 % with a more mild carbonation likely from the growler pour.
Overall – A rather nice and very easy drinking, more session style brew. Overall, a nice drinker.
