Clear dark red-amber color. Poured a medium head that collapsed to a patchy skiff after a minute. Moderate flow of medium sized bubbles rising from the bottom of the glass. Left some small dots of lacing.
Smells lightly malty with a faint yeast funk. Mineral scent, like finely ground rock. Swirling the glass kicked up a light barnyard that persisted for half a minute. There was a hint of cottage cheese each time I started to take a drink.
Light malt flavor. Turns a bit sweet with a caramel syrup flavor after a bit. Hint of bitters. Hint of cottage cheese. The aftertaste is sweet caramel with a stronger hint of cottage cheese and a bit stronger bitter.
Strong tongue tingling. Turned into a coarse foam. A bit oily.
The cottage cheese smell and flavor is a bit off putting. It is subdued when it is really cold, but gets stronger as the glass warms up. This wouldn't be my choice for a house beer.

5 oz sampler poured at the Big Rock Urban taproom. Deep, clear brown color with a modest head of white foam and suds. Rich, malty aroma and taste with plenty of caramel, roasted nuts and nicely toasted grains; hints of ale yeast. Very subdued bitterness without much hop character. Medium body and softer carbonation. Memories of the 90s in BC when Big Rock Trad Ale from Calgary was some of the most flavorful beer around.
