Named after the abolitionist John Brown, this classic American IPA shows a smooth malt backbone that supports a generous amount of citrusy, piney, dank hops. This is a go-to IPA for the true hop lover!

On tap at Zig Zag's Bar in Lake Placid, NY.
This one pours a golden dark orange color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.
This smells kind of malty, with some citrus, pine, grassiness, marijuana, and orange.
This isn't bad by any means, but it's too malty to be truly enjoyable for me. I want more hop character to this to overcome the maltiness.
This is light, crisp, and fairly clean, with a good drinkability to it.
I didn't hate this one by any stretch of that word, but it's kind of forgettable in the grand scheme of things.

-hazy golden tap pour with a 1.5 foam cap and a sharp hop aroma. The flavor is crisp and pine forward. The hop bitterness is moderate to high. The finish is a bit dry.

Great Adirondack Steak & Seafood Co. "John Brown IPA"
on tap @ The Local Pub & Tea House, Sarasota Springs, NY on 8 June 2016
Notes: Listed at 6.5% abv. Hazy deep amber/copperbody beneath a finger-thick head of off-white. Average head retention and lacing - probably a non beer-clean glass from the bar. Bright aroma of soft pine & citrus over a caramel malt base. The flavor follows and it's well-balanced leaning towards maltiness but with a solid bitterness to anchor it. The malt lingers in the finish, fading to reveal spicy/piney & citrusy hops.

L: Pours a golden amber with a thick two fingers of white head. It lingers leaving some nice thick lacing caked all the way down the glass.
S: Citrus, Pine and floral notes. It's incredibly fragrant.
T: Follows the nose with a bit more pine. It's fairly bitter but in a great way.
F: Moderately carbonated, medium body.
O: An excellent IPA and well named. Been wanting to try this one for a while. It went great with the duck wings.
