On tap at the Great Adirondack Steak and Seafood Co.

A: Served an amber color with a good head that slowly faded to some lacing.

S: Mild aroma of malt & grain.

T: Malt with some caramel sweetness. Had a light bitter finish.

F: Medium body & clean. Nothing fancy.

D: Nice brew, worth a try. Really went well with my dinner.

The colour of this ale has a thin rose like hue and pleasing to the eye.
The carbonation is mild and the crown is short.
The body is medium/full and the glass cling and ring are limited.
Aroma lightly of caromel and biscuit.
The taste is balanced nicely between the goldings, fuggles and target hops with the malts to give this brew a sweetlike start and light bitter finish to end.
Very nice.

The beer pours a nice red color with a thick frothy offwhite head that slowly fades to lacing. The aroma is decent. It has a dry, crystal malt scent with some mild bisquity notes. The taste is decent as well. It has a light, burnt toffee flavor with some sweet caramel malt taste and a mild hop finish. The mouthfeel is fine. It is a medium bodied beer with adequate carbonation. This is a pretty good red ale, but nothing outstanding.

Growler filled at the brewery.

Poured into a pint glass, formed a scant 1/4" beige head over the deep amber brew. Head was short-lived. Aroma is nutty malts, and the taste continues in the same vein, nice depths of nutty grains. Mouthfeel is smooth over the tongue, and drinkability is very simple, very easy, very good.

This is my number-two choice at this establishment after the John Brown Pale Ale. It goes very well with a hearty steak dinner. I usually do not rank 'reds' very highly.

Appearance: medium dark red

Mouthfeel: somewhat coarse

I recommend trying the sampler.

Poured a medium amber/ruby hue with a one finger foamy head. There was decent retention and lacing.

The smell was rather subtle. Mostly a malt and grain experience. Mild flowery hop aroma detected.

The taste was also mostly a malt and grain event. There was a good flavoring hop presence and an overall clean taste.

The mouthfeel was clean.

Overall a very drinkable red ale. Not too sweet, which is good in my opinion.

After ordering a Red the cheerful server poured an attractive looking pint of beer with an off-white creamy head that lasted with good lacing. A sparkling clear reddish amber hue showed some soft carbonation. This beer has a moderate malty aroma with hints of toffee and caramel. No noticeable hop aroma. The initial light sweetness was followed by flavors of specialty malts and finished smooth with balanced light bitterness from a mild hop presence. Easy drinking pint of beer matching a fine Irish Red. When in you're up in the North Country make sure you check out this brewpub.

Off tap this beer was an amber color with good clarity and one-finger of head. The retention was good as a collar and the lacing decent. The aroma was light, toasted malt, biscuity malt and faint hops. The flavors were very interesting and complex. I tasted at first caramel malt and a little toffee, then toasted malt, and biscuity malt, some hints of wood, nuts and smoked meats. The finish had a tiny flash of hops that provided some bitterness and a crisp finish. Generally more bitter than the average red ale. The mouthfeel was smooth and rich, the body medium and the carbonation on the lower end of the spectrum. Though acidic and not a great choice for a session beer I had to say that this one impressed me.

This is a fairly old-school American Amber of the type that was commonly encountered 20 years ago, not a Nugget Nectar style heavily hopped tropical fruit bomb. It’s well crafted and tasty but not likely to excite many current craft fans.

The beer pours a very reddish amber, close to clear, and has a decent cap of off-white foam and nice lacing. Very malty, bready aroma, with plenty of caramel and toffee notes, as well as a light floral hoppiness at the end. The taste stays pretty close to the nose; the hops are distinctly English in style, a bit floral and earthy, but what pops out most is a nicely bready toasted malt flavor with present but not overwhelming caramel and brown sugar sweetness and a hint of appealing nuttiness. Finishes fairly dry. Body is medium to a bit light, with above average carbonation and a clean and refreshing overall feel. Again, this beer won’t excite many craft fans but it’s certainly well made and drinkable.

a generous gift from the bartender here, thank you sir, I wish I could remember your name. this is a great red beer, pouring a deep copper color from the jug into a frosted octoberfest pint. its got a roused up off white head with fine lacing remaining after each gulp. it smells like the sweeter side of red malt, but also has a distinct richness to it, the grain bill is different than most. not sure if its oatmeal or something else, but this is more highly refined than the stock red. the flavor is nicely balanced, and goldings type hops creep in to the finish to balance the sweetness of the grain. I love the mouthfeel, its the best part. the beer is very light, weightless almost, very drinkable, but also has a certain creamy character to it, a smoothness that glides down gently but satisfies as much as it refreshes. carbonation is just a tad low, perhaps a product of the growler, but this impressed me as a league above the generic red beers that you get a little breweries around the country, and you cant beat the price of free!
