This rustic friendly brewpub is about 15-20 minutes walk from the old town along Linzer Gasse/Schallmooser Haupstrasse, or get Electric Bus No 4 and get off 2nd stop after the bus turns into Schallmooser Haupstrasse. The brewpub is just past Arnogasse on the left hand side. Entrance through heavy wooden door into a small enclosed garden area with wooded seats and benches, or inside into an L shaped area, with several small rooms off. The main bar area with buffet food counter also has the copper brewing kettles on view. Choose a table (which has a number) and you will soon be served their weiss beer. This is a cloudy darker very tasty brew, maybe a bit yeasty than some, and slightly sweeter than average but very enjoyable. To order food, you go to the buffet counter area, either choose from the cold foods available or order hot food from the menu on chalk boards. They will ask for your table number when you order the food. We found the hot food was very good (though not much English is spoken!) and enjoyed two evenings there.
The place is decorated with wooden beams and rustic in appearance, very attractive and lit mainly by candles on each table.
The beer and food was reasonably priced, and as the place is off the tourist trail is very popular with the locals. Very well worth seeking out. Only opens in the evenings from 5pm.
