Glowing pastel salmon with a thin, off-white chain on top, this tart Gose exhibits cherry with cinnamon much like cherry pie but, lightly so, with lactic sour notes and a dry finish.

12 ounce can, canned on 08/23/18. Served in a Ritterguts Gose glass, the beer pours a cloudy reddish/orange color with about an inch off-white head that stuck around a while. Good amount of lacing. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like tart cherries, salt and wheat/grainy malt. Taste is similar to the aroma, but there's also some vanilla, lime, grape skin and coriander flavors. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's slick and a bit creamy with a moderate amount of carbonation. I thought this was a good overall brew. I probably should have bought a sixer instead of just a single can. I'll learn my lesson one day, because Urban Artifact is one of the best breweries in Ohio IMO. $2.29 a can.

12 ounce can into tulip glass, no can dating. Pours moderately hazy/cloudy reddish orange color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin lace cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big juicy/tart/tangy cherries, fruit skin/pits, lemon, lime, green apple, red grape, vanilla, coriander, sea salt, almond, wheat, cracker, white bread, herbal, grass, light lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/acidic yeast, cherries, spices/salt, and moderate pale malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big juicy/tart/tangy cherries, fruit skin/pits, lemon, lime, green apple, red grape, vanilla, coriander, sea salt, almond, wheat, cracker, white bread, herbal, grass, light lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tartness, fruit tang, and light bitter/spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of tart/tangy cherries, fruit skin/pits, lemon, lime, green apple, red grape, vanilla, coriander, sea salt, almond, wheat, cracker, white bread, herbal, grass, light lacto funk, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/acidic yeast, cherries, spices/salt, and moderate pale malt flavors; with an awesome malt/tartness and tangy fruit balance; with zero puckering flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from tartness and tangy fruit. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy/acidic/tangy/tannic, and lightly saline balanced mouthfeel that is fantastic. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 4.7%. Overall this is an outstanding fruited gose! All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/acidic yeast, cherries, spices/salt, and moderate pale malt flavors; very smooth and extremely refreshing to drink with the mellowly acidic/tangy/tannic/drying finish. Vanilla is definitely more noticeable here than the key lime gose. Super jammy authentic tart cherry presence with balanced wheat malts/vanilla; not overly salty or lactic. A highly enjoyable offering, and spot on style example. Tastes like cherry pie as advertised.

``Cherry Pie Gose'' brewed with 1500lbs of fresh tart cherries, 9lbs of sea salt, 60g of vanilla beans, and 1.25lb of coriander per 30BBL batch. Poured from a can into an Urban Artifact Thoroughbred tulip. If it were just about any other brewer, I'd expect this beer to be pale gold with a hint of pink, but knowing how much fruit Urban Artifact uses, I'm not surprised to see a beer so red that it could easily pass for a glass of juice. It doesn't have much head, but I don't consider that a flaw in a sour beer. The nose is rather faint and isn't quite as "cherry" as I was hoping for, but it does have some nice cherry, white wine, and apple juice notes and I even get some of the vanilla on the nose too.
Medium-light body with a sharp, tart flavor and a nice delicate feel. I get some tart wheat-like notes up front, then lemon, then I get a pretty good jolt of tart cherry right past mid-palate. It finishes very dry, leaving you salivating for another sip. Lemon and tart cherries linger.
These Gose beers from Urban Artifact are among my favorite everyday sours. They are tasty, refreshing, well-crafted, and represent tremendous value. I get excited when I visit the bottle shop and see a new beer from Urban Artifact that I haven't tried yet. It's a feeling I haven't experienced since I first got into craft beers several years ago and looked forward to trying each and every Three Floyds and Founders seasonal for the first time. Thank you Urban Artifact!
