Bursting with orange aromas accompanied by bready wheat malt flavors and bright acidity, this Spring Gose is a bright and vernal treat. Over 200lbs of the 16th century citrus, kumquats, went into making the refreshing example of a Gose.

A really nice gose. Good bitter citrus flavors with a slight salty finish. Crushable and just plain enjoyable. This will be in my summer rotation.

Beautiful golden color, nice "gosey" nose ... Not too much pucker ... This will be a great summer drinker ... Or any sunny day when your heart is warm

L: Clear and glossy. Easy on the carbonation.
S: Nearly odorless. But there is coriander, sea salt, and some developed grain. Mellow is good quality for beer.
T: Oranges and cereal. Actually I kind of like it.
F: It's not particularly sour, nor should it be.
O: The goofiness is limited to the packaging, I promise. The gose itself is mechanically sound, and the addition of orange doesn't disrupt the balance and elegance of the final product.

Sour meets citrus in a German-styled wheat beer, kettle soured and then layered with oranges, courtesy of the adept sour ale makers in Urban Artifiact.
Pouring a pale and peachy gold, the cloudy Pinwheel builds a soft lather that pushes out a citrusy sour scent of under ripened oranges, cider, bread dough, white wine and a briny scent of the sea. Light on malt flavors, the early palate is met with sourdough, saltwater taffy and honeysuckle.
But the flavors turn toward the citrus additions as the ale crosses the middle palate and washes the tastebuds with tangy oranges along with a pep of lemon and lime. As a backdrop of passionfruit, green apple, white grape and gooseberry adds a natural souring fruit taste, the late palate comes quick with a brisk and rounded salinity, burlap and brine.
Medium bodied for sour ale, the Gose actually has the balance, mouthfeel and sour level of more traditional Gose beer, however may be fuller and less bright by today's standards. As the ale finishes medium quick with citrus peels and lightly musty, a brief afterglow of sourdough, orange and saltwater once more.

Tart citrus with light vanilla. Slight tropical fruit on nose. A gose that isn't too sour. Drinking in late winter at CVG "Local." It's a spring seasonal probably better in the spring warmth rather than winter brrrrr.

A: A light apricot tan in color with a light white head that disapears rapidly.
S: Salty, tart, and a little bit of funk. Perhaps a touch of citrus.
T: Tart and acidic up front, with sea salt coming in afterwards. Not a lot of kumquat on this.
M: light in body, moderate to high mouth feel, and a dry finish.
O: Overall very tasty, but I don't get a lot of the kumquat.

Pours light cloudy, orange. Short, foamy, white head that Fades immediately.
Smells orange, tart citrus, lemon, wheat and a hint of pepper.
Taste tart orange, lemon, citrus peel, wheat, bready, Light Funk and a salty finish. Dry finish with salt and citrus peel linger. Lighter medium body and fizzy medium carbonation.

A - Orange body, mostly opaque, a bit of transparency around the edges, a minimal white head, and thin lines of lacing.
S - Strong hit of citrus, a la Tang, with the kumquat sour underpinning the orange aspect.
T - The salinity is present, but the flavor is rooted in tangerine citrus, a hint of zest, and a wash of kumquats that turns mildly puckering in the close.
M - Brisk carbonation, strong sourness that lingers but is not brutal.
O - A lovely Gose that offers solid fruit notes, salt that amplifies the fruit, producing a combination that is refreshing and bright.

Urban Artifact excels at this kind of beer - tart, fruit infused. I will keep coming back for more as long as they are this good.
It pours a dirty rage with little head. The smell is unusual - somewhat fruity. The taste is a tart, odd fruity taste. This is just a bit of tang to start the aftertaste. The whole package is out of the ordinary - a gose, but unusally fruity.
Highly recommended.

This brew is everywhere lately. How lucky we are. I would still highly recommend this to anyone who wants a perfect example of this brewer's style. I am going to buy more. I think this stuff will keep for a month or two. It would be nice to have some on hand.
