A double version of our classic Berliner Pale Ale (A tart pale ale) infused with over 2,200lbs of tropical fruit per batch, roughly 1.2 lbs. per gallon! Pineapple, kumquat & white guava give this beer huge tropical juice flavors and aromas with just enough tartness to balance it all out. Great in the morning, noon, or at night.

Received from @Wesmantooth – thanks Corey!
Undated bottle stored in my 42 degree reefer and served at 42 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter.
Aroma – A very pleasant fruity odor.
Head – None. As it pours, a fizzy head exists only while the pour is hitting the surface. Completion of the pour marks the end of the head. There is neither ring nor layer, just a few bubbles from effervescence.
Lacing – None.
Body – Medium orange, opaque, effervescent. Sludge in the bottle bottom.
Flavor – Mixed tropical fruit, kind of Juicyfruit gum-like. Not bitter but acidic. No malt, hops, alcohol, or diacetyl found.
Palate – Light, watery, lively carbonation.
Impression: Good, but not very beer-like in look, smell, or taste: seems more like a tropical fruit wine than a beer. This is the first time I’ve seen a bottled beer with the pH marked.
Appearance 3.5, Aroma 4.25, Flavor 4.5, Palate 4, Overall 4.5.

A: Pours an extremely murky deep golden yellow in color with heavy amounts of fine active visible carbonation rising quickly from the bottom of the glass, moderate amounts of medium sized white yeast particles in suspension, and moderate apricot colored highlights. The beer has a finger tall fizzy white head that quickly reduces to a few small patches of very thin film surrounded by a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Minimal amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Just shy of moderate aromas of tropical/pineapple (overripe), tropical/guava, and citrus/kumquat (bitter orange) over the top of light aromas of slightly sour wheat malts + lacto tartness.

T: Upfront there is a light to moderate flavor of slightly sour wheat malts with a light to moderate flavor of lacto tartness. That is followed by slightly stronger than moderate flavors of tropical/pineapple (overripe), tropical/guava, and citrus/kumquat (bitter orange) with a hint of earthy hop bitterness. Light amounts of lingering tartness in the finish.

M: Slightly heavier than light bodied with slightly heavier than moderate amounts of carbonation. Crisp with a light amount of acidic prickliness.

O: Definitely an interesting beer with some really nice tropical fruit flavors + aromas but not sure that I really need a Double/Imperial Berliner Weisse - part of the draw to the style is the lower alcohol. That being said, the alcohol is well hidden and this is an enjoyable brew.

From a 12oz bottle with no date, but I am pretty confident this was bottled very recently from information I have.

It is a glowing orange gold. There was a very fizzy, soda like white head that was gone in a few seconds.

It smells very fruity and semi sweet. Candied orange, pineapple, champagne yeast, a touch of lactic acid, and bread crust. It smells excellent, but a little too orange dominated. As it warms, a little more of an earthy aroma starts to come through with stone fruit.

The flavor is a better mix. A crisp, slightly tart Mix of fruits with sweet mandarin orange, pink grapefruit/guava, a touch of pineapple. Then there is a solid wheat that takes over and carries through to the aftertaste. A nice clean finish with lingering grain. I am liking this more and more as I finish it. Nice balance and goes down super easy. I was shocked when I saw the 8.5% abv.

It could be a little more crisp. It has a flat feel carbonation wise.

Overall this one is pretty good. I would basically describe it as an imperial version of a combination of Pinwheel and Finn.

Double Berliner Pale brewed with pineapples, guavas, and kumquats. Poured from a bottle into a Lost Abbey Teku. The pour is hazy and bright orange in color with a thin head that quickly succumbs to the acidity and dwindles down to a thin lace. The nose is spectacular. It's a blast of citrus that hits you the moment the cap is removed. I get freshly cut grapefruit, oranges, and pineapples. The most citrus-forward beer I have ever nosed.

Medium body with a firm feel and a slightly tart, strongly citrus flavor. It tastes like champagne up front, then there's a rush of orange, grapefruit, and pineapple flavors. They add bitterness and a little sweetness to the acidity, which lingers a little on the finish.

Overall, as citrusy a beer as I have ever had. If you blindfolded me and held it up to my nose, I'd swear you were holding up a half a grapefruit. The beer has a light, pleasant tartness and is extremely fruity and refreshing. A unique sour.
