Reviewed from (long-standing) notes. Purchased 12/26/17 at Root Cellar in Cincinnati, and consumed shortly thereafter. Poured from the 12 oz. can into an El Catador Barrel-Aged glass.

A: Mildly hazy nice gold with a good amount of visible carbonation. Forms a finger's worth of white head with good retention. This is a pretty beer.

S: Tropical fruits and citrus hops, lactic tart and the acidity of a kettle sour. Lemony citric acid and a modest funk as well – I'm assuming Lactobacillus here. Some musty barnyard and light cracker malts.

T: Tart lactic acid and lemony citric acid mix with the citrus and tropical fruit hops. Cracker malts. Milder funk than the nose, but still present. More lactic tart dryness with some lingering citrus bitterness in the hang.

M: A light body, good carbonation sensation, and low alcohol presence.

O: Tasty enough and easy to drink. A good change of pace to have around in cans if it were local to me. But to me, it's nowhere near the Hop Savant range of complexity and balance. But enjoyable.

Look - hazy golden copper color with a slight head and sticky lacing. Great looking beer
Smell - tart citrus ginger beer scent. maybe a slight tropical fruit scent
taste - tart juicy fruit gum
feel - medium body with a light carbonation
Overall - very interesting. A lot like a tart juicy fruit with a good body.

I have been an Urban Artifact fan since the first fruit beer of their I tried. They come up with unique stuff. This one seems to lean toward the odd side of things, and not doing it with fruit, I don't think.

It looks great in the glass. Yellow with fine bubbles. The aroma is pretty funky. Whatever is making that sour also makes a funky smell. The taste is tart, but unusually so. Not as strong as the more tropical AIPA's.

Recommended, as are all their brews.

Tart IPA brewed with Mosaic, Pilgrim, and Triskel. Poured from a can into a Bruery tulip. The pour is dark gold and quite hazy with very little head (maybe just an undercarbonated can? I have 3 more so we'll see how they fare). The nose has a lot going on though. There are some tropical fruit notes of oranges, lemons, and grapefruit as well as apple cider vinegar.

Medium-light body with a firm feel and a tart, fruity flavor. The bitterness is quite mild, despite the citrusy hop notes on the nose. There is also a mild tartness that complements the bitterness very well. I get orange juice, lemon zest, ginger ale, and a hint of basil. Finishes with a stony, mineral-like dryness. Very refreshing and thirst-quenching.

A very tasty, refreshing IPA. I hate to grade it low, but the lack of carbonation in this can really hinders it. More gas would definitely stimulate the tastebuds and open up the palate a bit more. Nevertheless, I really enjoy the flavor. It marries tart notes with citrusy hops in a completely satisfying way.
