Two 187 ml bottles
Served in a wine glass

This beer pours a ruddy brown color with deep amber highlights. It is topped with less than an inch of tan head that leaves spotty lacing.

Great sour smell with a nice boysenberry smell as well.

Boysenberry upfront. Then it gets nice and sour. The boysenberry tries to sweeten it, but the sour is winning. Great lingering sourness. Not a lot of funk but plenty of sour.

Lighter bodied with a dryish mouthfeel

This is a really nice fruited sour. Sour enough to make me pucker.

Very dark red, almost black, with a fine film that fizzles out instantly.

Taste emulates a substantial barrel char, while the prickly carb lifts sour bush berries and bitter skin tannins. It's got a strongly malic, almost gastric sort of acidity that does not seem too sour in small sips, but Urban Artifact definitely needs more balance to their barrel aged sours.

500 ml corked and caged bottle, bottle 79 of 1175. Label says 7.8%, bottled SEP 2019. Served in a chalice, the beer pours a dark purple color with about a half inch pink head that fizzled away quickly. Pretty much no lacing. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like boysenberries, oak, red wine/grapes and some bready malt. Taste is pretty much just like the aroma, but with the addition of some vanilla and earthy flavors. Good amount of fruity tartness! Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's easy to drink with a low/moderate amount of carbonation. I thought this was an enjoyable brew, definitely worth picking up if you're into fruited sours and/or wild ales.
