Pours a purple/red with a finger of pink foam. Nice foamy collection of bubbles.

Nose doesn't have much to offer. Sour tart notes, with some fruit underneath. It would take a more gifted person than I to find that it was cherry. O do happen to get cinnamon though, which is interesting.

Taste indicates more cherry. Dark cherry. Mildly tart. A strong malt backbone. Almost reminding me of pie crust. I'm not actually sure if there is cinnamon in here or not. It could be a phantom sensation.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation.

Overall, not one of my favorites from Urban Artifact but still a solid entry. Enjoyable for what its worth.

12 fl oz can
Served in a sour glass

This beer pours plum colored and is topped with a minimal beige head. No lacing is left behind.

The smell is tart cherry and cherry wine. I do get a light cinnamon aroma.

The taste is tart and large in the cherry department. I get a cherry wine flavor. The finish is full of cherry with lingering tartness.

Medium bodied with a dry mouthfeel

It is good, but not my favorite of the Midwest tart fruit series. The cherry wine aspect just doesn't do it for me.

Look - Fantastic dark cherry red slight purple clear color with a slight initial white head that goes away pretty quick
Smell - dark cherry with a tequilla scent. the tequila scent is slight woody, slight citrus like lemon and lime. Possibly some grape juice red wine scent there...
Taste - Tart dark cherry with a slight lime and cranberry.
Feel - medium slight syrup like body and a medium light carbonation.
Overall - Pretty taste beer. Can't tell it's 10% ABV, I'd guess around 7.

When it comes to Urban Artifact and their sour ales, you can place their beers on the rinse and repeat cycle as long as they keep'em coming. With a unique addition of the Balaton cherry, of course this rarity in on auto cycle also.

Dark and on the purple side of ruby and mauve, the mildly hazy ale pours like a robust red wine, expect for crowning with a dense but shallow layer of froth. As the robust dark fruit rouses the nose, its scent of dark berries, red berries, grape and cherry come with a sour and spicy twinge to the olfactory senses. Juiciy with a succulent malt upstart, a taste of taffy, sourdough and shortcake bring a nearly cobbler character to the early palate.

But then the sweetness rapidly lifts and the fruit-centric flavors of those dark cherries begin to play on the middle palate with blackberry, blackcurrant, red grape, light prune, raspberry and nearly with a raisin-like succulence. Trending sour, spicy and quite dry for a full bodied sour ale, the late palate is a piquant balance of tannins, vinous spice and a firm cidery tartness.

Medium bodied all in all, but fuller for sour ale, the malt creaminess adds a balance to the spice, red wine warmth and tannins that work to dry the taste, the sour ale finishes dry but also jammy with a linger of bordeaux wine and fruit rollup.

Perfect for our first day in the 70's for the year on the porch in quarantine. Passionately dark ruby red, no head. Smell and taste are clones: classic balaton tart cherry in a rose wine like matrix, hint of flowers, graham cracker, and cranberry. Nice tart finish here friends, with a lighter but not thin body. The scary part about this beer is the fact that it is 10%, would have guess 4%! It is like a serious, not as sweet and potent version of new glarus' belgian red. Sip and enjoy on the back porch and stay safe friends!
