Urban Artifact's fascination with the world of wine takes them to the grapes of Pinot Gris. Fruity, tangy and a little spicy, the "Brut Fruit Tart Ale" series hits a whole new high point
Pouring a pale golden color and decorated with a loose and lofty trickle of foam. The distinct floral character of the grape shines with cider, white wine, grape juice and floral sweetness. Even sweeter to taste, a candied taste of honeysuckle, agave, juice and apple greet the palate with a little more sweetness than the average white wine.
As the flavors open up on the middle palate, its sweetness hits a crescendo with light and pastry sweetness that brightens the palate before trending with a spicy, vinous and mildly tannic balance to close the session fruity and candied. The whimsy of "Pez" candy illuminates the floral flavors trend obviously winey throughout the session.
Medium full for a fruit beer, the grapes add a burst of flavor with its sweetness but then balances itself with its own acidity. Finishing slightly malty-dry, the beer desperately wants to be a sour ale, but as a fruit beer it seems to leave the acidic side of taste wanting a little more.
