In a world of sameness, it takes courage, adventure and clever thought to drink outside of the craft beer box. Where peaches and cream are so in the past, mangos and cream is leading the charge at Urban Artifact's brewery.
Golden orange and set in a diffused and hazy glow, Mangos & Cream (Nitro-infuse) pours with a patient separation of pale body and creamy meringue-like froth. With a muted scent of tropical fruit, citrus and vinous notes, the nose is light and bready. Creamy sweetness of cereal, taffy, fructose and sourdough coat the early palate with a pillowy sweet maltiness.
Then the fruit additions come out to play as the ale washes the middle palate and its nitrogen escapes the ale. The brightness of mangos bring a radiant and succulent tartness that fuses seamlessly with with underlying acidity of green apple, white grape, lime, lemon and gooseberry. Trending both creamy and tart, the late taste trends drying as the fruit puree outweighs the creamy malts narrowly as the session closes.
Medium bodied and malty-tart, the ale finishes briskly acidic, tangy and quite crisp. Where the nitrogen gas gives the beer roundness, plushness and creaminess, its hinders the taste mostly and the flavors slightly before the session shows a mildly watery character at times.
