Had this at the alehouse in Seattle across from Safeco. Pours a very dark black with a mocha tan head that is fabulous to look at. The smell is of caramel and molasses, slight roasted smell, (less than most stouts), also hint of red grapes. The taste is upfront merlot, tastes like red wine with hints of roasted malts. Slight licorice taste as well. Full bodied thick stout, could barely finish the one stout.

tall head, deadly-dark opaqueness, smells dark and cofee scent, good aftertaste but a little to bitter (overhopped), Taste in mouth is good, but blander than the rich scent implied.
A little more flavor and a little drier would meet my taste better, but quite good nonetheless.

Sampled at the Pyramid Ale House opposite the Seattle Mariners Stadium.
Dark black with deep dense light sucking qualities and a dark brown head.
Roasted barley notes quickly fade out to a powerful licorice nose.
The flavor is a mix of a light diacetyl and chocolate and black anise.
The rich body fades into a rich and slow soft finish.
