I have experienced Pyramid's original Imperial Outburst IPA, this is a tad lighter and with added orange zest. It pours a thick copper amber with a dirty-white frothy head. Appears as hefty as the OG. Sweet biscuit and candied orange peel on the nose. A very pleasant honey backdrop. There is a sweetness on the palate equivalent to apple juice, with a minor citrus sting, probably toned down by the 7% ABV. A good balance of malt and hops. A Northwest piney vibe throughout. It is quite thick with medium carbonation. Mouthcoating and astringent upon swallowing.
Overall, Outburst citrus is better than the original with more to contemplate. The lowered ABV brings out the subtler hops and malt characteristics, being floral.

Crystal clear honey amber with an absolutely huge head. Looks great, but the aroma is barely detectable and mostly malt, which is surprising for a beer explicitly labled as "citrus". Taste is nice, an almost perfect blend of sweetness and bitterness, which is perfect for a beer emulating the grapefruit experience. Still, it's not very notable. Mouthfeel is thick and oily, and absolutely dialed in as far as I am concerned. I guess my best take is that I'd be happy to drink this if offered, but I wouldn't make a special trip to get my hands on it. It's basically proficient and workman like. /shrug

Quite handsome appearance with the amber brew piled high with foam in the Het Kapittel chalice. Pleasant generic citrus aroma. Substantial body and plenty of malt. On the sweet side, more like a DIPA. Sudsy mouthfeel and quite tangy and fruity. Seriously bitter.
Strong grapefruit peel flavor and bitter like pith but injected with candied grapefruit peel taste. On the whole, this seems overly flavored-up, goopy with fruit, and bitter too long in the aftertaste. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Safeway.

22 Oz bottle. No bottling info
Pours a hazy copper body with an off white head. Some retention, lots of thin lacing
Smell has the malt out front. With a bit of orange citrus. (The citrus was very much under the radar.) The overall smell was not very prominent.
A little malt along with a big hop bite. The orange peel is much more noticeable in the taste and really brings out a nice bitterness.
Medium to crisp feel
Value (does not affect overall score) At $4.29 for a 22 oz beer it was a good value.
Overall; not a bad beer but I couldn't help but compare it to the regular Outburst DIPA. On that level, this wasn't as well balanced and the feel wasn't as smooth as the regular version. Think I will stick with the original...

Our first review since moving to WA from MN. Beer was packed just 3 weeks ago, fresh in can. Pour is a dark honey amber with slight cloudiness. Solid head with great retention. Aroma is solid malt and hops with only a slight citrus accent, which is a nice change from the lemon-oil scents we get from some. Taste-- a firm malt base with good IPA bitterness. Nice mouthfeel and aftertaste is clean. We like this one a lot.
