This beer is brewed for the Longharn saloon in Edison, WA, and is a house beer there. The Longhorn is a fun locals bar with fresh, local oysters and seafood headlining their menu. They have a couple of macros on tap and about 6-8 craft beers.
This is just a basic amber, a semi-cloudy brown color with about 1/4 inch of off white head that had low retention and light lacing. The aroma was fairly well balanced between the malt and hops, a bit sweet with just a tickle of hops.
On the tongue, the story was pretty much the same, smooth malts and just enough hops for contrast. he body was typical for the style, smooth and well-rounded. Drinkability was very good, but with the relative blandness of this beer, why drink several?
Overall, a slightly below average example of the style. It might be a good brew to introduce someone to craft beer, but you have to go out of your way to get this beer. It'd be easier to just grab a Fat Tire, Alaskan Amber or even a Mac & Jacks' ifyour in the Puget Sound area. I suggest a visit to Edison, WA if you are in the area, there several artisan food stores and several artists shops to visit. Hit the Longhorn for some oysters, just order a different beer.
