Boldly hopped with Delta and Mt Hood, and again dry-hopped in fermentation, our Wheaten IPA is both pleasantly bitter and full of citrus and hop aroma. A subtle blend of specialty malts and malted wheat compliment the hoppy characteristics.

Weird, my bottle had more brown and red than this one pictured here with green coloring. Anyways, a wheat ipa, these haven't really taken hold. This one pours an amber color, 1/2" white head. Aroma is kinda absent for an ipa, I dunno what these Delta and Mt. Hood hops are all about, but aromatics they are not.

Taste, eh there is a vague non descript bitterness that I guess falls into the easy to use grapefruit descriptor. Not much in the way of discernable taste from these hop varieties. I wonder if they got an exclusive contract for Delta because I dunno that I have ever had them before. Mt. Hood aren't used all that much, but i've had them in some other pacnw beers that also didn't really leave much of an impression like this one. I guess the wheat keeps the malt bill from being hefty or caramel territory.

Nonetheless, for an ipa, this is below average, although it is probably an above average choice for a person who doesn't like ipas.

Bottle > Pint Glass

A- Pours a semi hazy orange/amber color, nice two finger fluffy head, medium lacing.
S - Lots of caramel malt and wheat, then some lemon peel and some herbal, grassy undertones.
T - Sweet up front with the malt and wheat, then comes with with some mild lemon tartness and nice bitterness.
M - A little chewy at first, but then leaves a metallic aftertaste, which isnt so great.
O - A good friend and beer mentor of mine has just brewed a hopped wheat that tastes very similar to this, and I've always liked the idea, because I dont normally like wheat styles. This is definitely a good flavored Wheat IPA, and not a bad example of the style. I could do without the aftertaste, but its worth having for sure.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a deep amber color, with a large off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a spotty lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains citrus, bananas, wheat, caramelized malts and some hops.

T: The taste starts out bready with flavors of wheat and a hearty malt character. Then some sweet flavors of caramel and citrus come in. The hops presence is mild for the style and brings a little bit of balance. The after-taste is slightly bready and slightly bitter.

M: Crisp and but not very smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

O: A little tasty, goes down ok, not too filling, decent kick, not the best representation of style, it’s certainly not one of the better IPA’s that I’ve had.

Poured from 22oz bomber into a pint glass.

Appearance: medium orange hue with a mostly haze-free body and a moderate effervescence. Head is two fingers of frothy tan-orange foam. Pretty good for the style.

Smell: sweet yet biscuity malt aroma; not at all my favorite. Hops are herbal and a bit on the rough side. Objectively, perhaps not too bad, but this does not suit my taste at all.

Taste: flavor is a little bit better than the aroma, as some of the lighter floral elements of the hops come through. Still, this beer is surprisingly sweet and unbalanced, despite the raspy bitterness at the end. Not the best.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and texture. Not too bad.

Overall: while it's not terrible, this beer is simply not to my taste.

I was really stoked a couple of weekends ago, while visiting a buddy in RI, to see Pyramid on the shelf. We do not have distro in PA and I have always been a fan of their beers. Yeah, it came in a bottle, but what harm CAN one bottle do ...?

From the bottle: "Dry-hopped India Pale Ale".

I just added a new student today whose name is "Tawny", believe it or don't. My pour created two dense fingers of tawny (no relation, I am sure) head with great retention. As it slowly fell, sticky lacing remained in its wake. Color was a deep-copper with NE-quality clarity. Nose was quite citrusy with notes of lemon, grapefruit and underneath, a little skunk which caused me some mild concern. Hey, hops come in many varietals, some of which have that odor naturally. The taste would tell and the proof would be in the pudding. Mouthfeel was medium and the taste was slightly metallic with a definite hops presence, but not as citrusy as the nose had led me to expect. Finish was still slightly metallic and I was left wondering if something hadn't gone wrong. Unfortunately, I only scored one bottle, so there is no way to tell. I might revisit it, but if other Pyramid offerings are up for grabs, I would go for something else first.

22 oz bomber bought from a local Mom and Pop convenience store when i was a little buzzed. $1.99 Judging by the other ratings this is either WAY early or more likely been sitting since spring!! Poured into my PBR goblet..this is actually quite a handsome beer..amber color and a lovely thick, creamy eggshell white head that stays. Aroma however is quite subdued and consists mainly of weak resiny hop and cream of corn!! Taste however is better again the resiny hop, balanced by creamy caramel ,a touch of honey and weak wheat... certainly smooth and really pleasing. I liked the palate/mouthfeel of this brew it was very smooth and balanced. Actually an OK beer especially having sat under the florescent for a long while
