Poured into a tulip glass.
From the Pyramid fall 2013 seasonal 12 pack. Light alcohol @ 4.50%.
Looks very thin and watery, a little muddled brown. You can see right through it.
Smells good. Yeasty, fairly heavy chocolate smell, slight coffee. Smells a little sweet.
Taste...some, but not a lot of the chocolate comes through. Surprisingly sour.
Thin mouthfeel with weak bubbles.
Just ok. It's drinkable, but nothing I'd go out of my way for--even if I was in the mood for a dark session beer.

Clear brown colored beer with a medium sized tan colored head.
Smells of heavily toasted toast and charred grain. Coffee and slight smoke aroma. Floral hop aroma.
Starts out dry with a toasted grain flavor. Stout bitterness. Kind of boring.
Mouthfeel is good.
Overall a pretty Meh beer. Out of the Fall variety pack, not the first beer you should drink.

Appearance - Pours brown with auburn red highlights. Off-white two finger head with great retention, leading to a thin but consistent layer of suds on the surface. Lacing is thin and spotty, but with good stick.
Smell - More brown ale in aroma than porter; lots of roasted nuttiness; earthy and sweet. Faint hints of chocolate and caramel.
Taste - Follows the nose. More roasted nuttiness than anything. Walnuts. Earthy bitterness. I get no coffee character as described on the variety pack. Faint chocolate notes contribute to the flavor in the finish.
Mouthfeel - Medium in body with fair to lively carbonation.
Overall - A solid offering from Pyramid. More a brown ale than a porter, though they describe it as an 'English Dark Ale'. Quite reminiscent of Sierra Nevada's Tumbler, to be honest, though with a little less punch. More brown than porter, English style not withstanding.
