this beer is so awesome. usually nut beers either have no nut favor, or its some sort of additive other than a whole nut that makes it seem sweet and fake and dominated by the nut. this is incredible because its brewed with just walnuts, yet their flavor is strong and honest, in balance with the other elements. they really packed a lot into this, especially for being a dry, drinkable, medium bodied beer under 6% abv! very impressive. in addition to the walnuts, its also done with coconut and cocoa nibs, giving it that walnut joy candy bar thing, if that existed (i now think it should after drinking this beer). great cocoa notes in here, goes great with the dry roasted dark malt, and there is a pleasing bitterness to balance any sweetness. the coconut is really forward too, and it also loves the dark grains. to me it tastes unsweetened, which keeps this drinking more earthy and natural than candy-like, smart call there for sure, but also robustly dosed, nutty, toasted, and delicious. smooth feel to it, and a brilliant harmony among all the added ingredients. it must have taken a million test batches to get this so well dialed in, but the work pays off. this was easily my favorite beer here, and one of my favorite stouts ive had this year. really delightful glass of beer, not overdone or forced, i just loved it! they have a total winner here.
