It's the ultimate dad beer: a lager perfect for crushing, whether in the basement or out in the garage. This crispy concoction pairs well with freshly-cut grass & rocking the white Nike Air Monarchs.

A couple of thoughts before I get into the meat or the matter in the review:

1. This one followed a series of straight -from-the-can into my mouth pours —day drinking over the holiday weekend— and so I have yet to fully objectively rate it. My initial impression was favorable.

2. I met the owner of 56 Brewing way back when (over five years ago), and honestly took a liking to the guy because he made and canned a Pilsner, straight out of the gate. I like Pilsner.

3. The 56 Brewing recipes have been solid and stylistically fairly full-spectrum for a ”Taproom era” brewery. The branding in this one is a bit distinct from the others.

4. 3.9% ABV is perfect for day drinking.

Appearance: Pours a completely clear, medium, but also deep orange color with a moderate white head. SRM of 9. (4.00)

Aroma: Mild aromas of pale malts, faint bread malts. Mild. (3.50)

Flavor: Moderate flavors of pale malts, yeast, dry bread malt. A smooth honey develops as it warms. Smooth and and slightly sweet. (4.00)

Feel: Medium to heavier bodied. Full mouthfeel and carbonation, but dry. Sweeter as it warms. (3.50)

Compared to Potosi Lux 9/10/22: Pours a darker color, milder aromas. More rich honey and bread malt. Less light cracker malt and floral citrus. Slightly sweeter and heavier.

Compared to Hofbrau Session Helles 9/10/22: Pours a darker color. Milder aromas. More honey and bread malt flavors. Less buttery and tea notes. Heavier and sweeter.

Overall: A decent lager here. This one has a nice honey and bread malt sweetness. Slightly heavier and sweeter for the ABV. Nice, smooth flavors, but for a session beer I think I'd prefer something lighter. (Rating: 3.73)

Very good gold color for a light beer. Pronounced lager taste. Slight bitterness in the after taste but no big deal. I was surprised at how good it was despite its corny name.

On draft at 56. Poured a crystal clear, straw-yellow color with a small, white head of foam. It left sudsy sheets of foam on the glass. It smelled of light caramel and some fresh cut grass. Sweet caramel taste with a milc bitterness. Easy drinking!
