Canned Oct 20 2023.
Medium dark brown, with one finger of tan head.
Smell is mostly charred wood & cardboard, with a little nuttiness and fresh biscuity malt showing up as the head fades.
Taste is rich, nutty, roasted malt , that gets a little sweeter towards finish, but not cloyingly so. Almost as if a couple drops of walnut syrup (Is that a thing?) was added. Just a hint of smoke - nothing close to what's in the aroma. Light bitterness at the end.
Feel is light-side of medium, with moderate, very, very fine carbonation bite , that dries it out a bit , towards the end.
Nice take on a marzen. I like the light touch of smoke . The net effect is almost marzen-meets-dunkel. I'd gladly have this anytime. :)

This one pours a dark brown color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.
This smells like campfire smoke, slight phenols, caramel, and breadiness.
Despite just a touch of overly phenolic smoke here, this is still pretty solid. It's quite smoky, mostly campfire like, with some chocolate, caramel, spicy breadiness, and maybe even some honey. It's obviously not super traditional as marzens go, and it's a bit more over the top than something like Schlenkerla Marzen, but I still dig it.
This is medium bodied, with a roasty and smoky bitterness on the back end, and a nice drinkability.
Although it's maybe a little bit too heavy and smoky, this is still pretty tasty, and a fascinating beer overall.

Poured from a 16 oz can into the test mug, production date is 2 weeks ago.
A - Lovely chestnut color, excellent clarity, nice carbonation feeds a loose frothy cap of off white.
S - Roast malts, caramel, earthy noble hops, just a hint of citrus and cut grass, all behind the curtain of smoked cherry wood. Nothing overdone but clearly the leader of the pack
T - Brown bread toast, some caramel, smoked malt, and lovely pumpernickle.
M - Semi sweet start, excellent feel, lager cabonation is gentle, the palate is tread on lightly, The finish is dry with a linger thats just smoky.
O - A woderful lager from this talented brewer. Aromatics are enticing, feel is excellent.
