We used floor-malted Maris Otter barley and some English caramalt to form the base of this simple pale ale, hopped it with East Kent Goldings, and fermented with a classic British Ale yeast. The water was treated with heavy mineral additions, to mimic the hard waters in parts of England where these beers originated. Bitters were and are the classic ale consumed in cozy pubs throughout the UK. We hope you enjoy ours!

Can from the Packie
Pours a lightly hazy dirty gold color with a bubbly while head that dissipates a bit quickly. rich bready toasty maltiness with some hints of toffee and earth. Been a while since Ive had an ESB and I enjoyed it.

Pours a frothy semi sense 1 finger head with moderate retention, sticky lacing, semi hazy med golden orange color
Nose smells like a proper bitter, semi sweet malts, earthy and herbaceous U.K. hops, a little caramelized malt note, fruity esters
Taste more of the hops up front, earthy herbal floral typical U.K., with moderate bitterness, fair sweet slight caramel malt notes, toasted malts, more fruity esters and a touch of citrus, mild stone fruit and pome fruit, drier finish, med to higher bitterness with that earthy herbal hops perhaps even mossy
Mouth is med bod, med to a bit higher frothy carb
Overall quite nice, one of the better English Bitters I've had from a U.S. brewery

An ESB is defined as being a balance between hoppy bitterness and malt. This is too hoppy bitter!
