Goodwood uses casks from some brandy distilling friends to patiently age our Honey Ale – super freaking patiently, actually. Goodwood Brandy Barrel Honey Ale is brewed with locally sourced honey and aged several times longer than our other barreled beers. But you don’t have to wait another second. Go ahead. Skip the part about “notes of malt, mead and dried fruit,” and get to sippin’!

12 oz bottle
Acquired from Blue Mound Liquors in Luverne, MN
Smokestack snifter
A sienna brown body with a tall loose-knit cap of 3 fingers, receding to 1/4 finger after a minute or so. No lace left behind.
Aroma of brandy syrup, honey candy, and light molasses, with hints of apple, caramel, anise, and orange.
Flavor brings hot antiseptic brandy and some piney hop presence, with some slight malt sweetness and a dab of honey. The finish is of honey and cough syrup.
Feel is very carbonated, has a good amount of alcohol heat, and has some dryness. Medium bodied.
Overall not great, though not terrible either, but it's not something I'd be apt to revisit again.

Murky brown in color with a fingernail of brown around the rim. The aroma is of brandy and oak. I’m tasting sweet brandy and dark, breads malt. The mouth is chewy and sticky.

Light brown with a hint of orange color with a persistent wispy white head. Smells of sweet malt on some honey and fruit. Taste follows with just a hint of the wood and a good long finish. Very rich mouthfeel with excellent carbonation. Overall a very nice, easy drinking beer with a good flavor profile that masks the rather high 8.7% ABV.

Look: Light amber/orange, not unlike a dark honey. One finger of off-white head that quickly dissipates.
Smell: Sweet malt, honey, toffee, and milk chocolate.
Taste: Mildly sweet malt with a sort of honey candy note.
Mouthfeel: Average body with high carbonation.
Overall: A quality experiment that produces a very tasty beer.

Not bad sweet brandy smell and you can taste honey notes. Burn of brandy on your throat but the sweetness on your tongue.

Brandy barrel honey ale pours a dark brown color, with a nice sized head. Earthy and barrel aromas. Taste is same earthy, lots of barrel with sweet honey at the end. Good body feel. Overall a nice easy drinking old ale.

I agree that it pours dark brown. I am tasting mostly the brandy barrel aging & a little bit of honey. The honey might have subdued during the barrel aging process, who know. Furthermore, it does not taste bad. I am getting a little bit tart , it does remind me of a barleywine. That Brandy Barrel Aging is coming out sort of strong with a little bit of honey on the back end, some carmel. It's an okay beer if you like this sort of thing. Cheers! B

Pours a clear dark brown with a ruby slipper red tint. Decent reddish brown cap that leaves adequate lacing. The aroma is caramel and oak. The flavor is sweet ripe dark fruits and honey. The feel is smooth and lightly carbonated. Overall a very nice beer.
