You’ll go totally walnuts over this oak-aged, walnut-seasoned brown ale. Made with a brewing style that dates back to 16th-century England and using a blend of six choice malts and two English hops, Goodwood Walnut Brown Ale features notes of caramel and chocolate with a finish that is – you guessed it – pleasingly nutty.

Too bitter for an English brown ale. Tastes like a pale ale.

I am trying this beer off the tapper at the brewery in Indanapolis as part of a four sample flight. It poured a clear dark amber with very little head that did not leave any lace. The scent had malt and bittering hop notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with crisp semi sweet malt base with grain and bold finish hop presence. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it is a decent beer.

Taster at brewery. Clear, copper pour, head fades quickly. Woody, nutty aroma. Taste brings minor sweet notes, a little sharp bitterness. Thin but full. Bitter

On-tap at The Flying Saucer, Memphis, TN
A: The beer is slightly hazy dark reddish amber in color. It poured with just a thin collar of off white bubbles around the edge of the glass.
S: Light aromas of nutty malts are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and has a little stronger flavors of nutty malts with associated slight bits of sweetness.
M: It feels nearly medium-bodied on the palate and has a low to moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This brown ale is very easy to drink and is primarily dominated by nutty malts.
Serving type: on-tap

I am getting some of the oak, vanilla, but not much of the walnuts. The mouthfeel could be better & it's not very complex. I expected a better beer than this. I'm not sure that I would be interested in purchasing any more Goodwood beers any more. The price is not that cheap, so I am assuming that this could have been made better. Cheers! B

Pouring from a 12 oz. can into a wine glass. As soon as I opened the beer it fizzed up over the top and I had to wait a minute before the pour. Light tan crown. Hazelnut brown beer with a less dense light tan colored crown. Ruby highlights held up in the light. The smell is nutty and has a candy like sweetness. Caramel, molasses. Even slight and mild chocolate. I like it. The taste is the same nuttiness but the complexity of the other layers has dimmed down from the smell. The mouthfeel is wet and works for the style. Would've thought it would be a little dryer with the nuts but it works. Overall this is a refreshing brown but I wish the taste had the complexity that the nose has.
